Privacy

Your data stays on your Mac.

Isly collects as little as it can. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking, in the app or on this website.

This website

The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. It is hosted on Cloudflare Workers (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit, Cloudflare receives your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser’s user agent to deliver the page and protect it from attacks, and may keep them in short-lived logs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; details are in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

The home page shows Product Hunt’s badge for Isly, an image loaded from Product Hunt’s servers (Product Hunt, Inc., USA) with the current number of votes. When the page loads it, Product Hunt receives your IP address and browser details (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Product Hunt processes them in the USA, where data may be less protected than in the EU; what it does with them is in Product Hunt’s privacy policy.

The buy buttons use Lemon Squeezy’s checkout. Its script (lemon.js) is loaded from Lemon Squeezy’s servers when you open the home page, so Lemon Squeezy receives your IP address and browser details. When you buy, Lemon Squeezy handles the order, payment, tax and receipt as the merchant of record; what it does with your data is in Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy. Lemon Squeezy is part of Stripe, which is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for data it handles in the USA.

The app

Isly runs on your Mac and keeps its settings there. Your music, calendar events and system readouts are read and shown locally and never leave your Mac.

It connects to the internet only for:

Isly keeps these in your Mac’s keychain, and nowhere else: the start of your free trial and, once you activate, your licence key, the activation’s ID, when it last checked the licence, and the name and email address on your order as Lemon Squeezy returns them (to show whose licence it is in Settings). Deactivating the licence removes all but the trial’s start.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, and ask for a copy (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You can also complain to a data protection authority. For anything about a purchase, Lemon Squeezy holds the order data; write to jleibl(at)proton(dot)me and we’ll help.
